THE CHALLENGE
Define a new Ferry terminal within the boundaries of an existing Container port. Find a solution that enables the area to be used in a way that fits a high frequency, fast turnaround ferry operation and at the same time does not impede on the existing business.
The work
Analyse the requirements and generate possible solutions in 2D plans. In the next stage present concept in 3D and develop a requirement Employer’s specification for procurement.
The work
A divided marshalling area that provides sufficient reservoir of cargo for quick loading/unloading but also enables larges cargo volumes.
2 level Linkspan with dedicated drive-off lanes and a distance to gate/customs that ensures no ques from exiting vehicles that could slow the loading operation.
Local passenger terminal/boarding tower at quay side with a bus service that enables boarding for pedestrian passengers already at the bus terminal in city centre.
